Sapphire Inspired Invitations

02.01.11

At the House of Papier we LOVE being creative when it comes to custom creations. This invite is unique in two ways: (1) It’s a bridesmaid invitation from the bride (Will you be my Bridesmaid?) and (2), this gorgeous invitation was inspired by the bride’s beautiful sapphire engagement ring. What a great way to ask someone to be in your wedding!

Happy Planning!

L’heure bleue Inspiration

12.14.10

On Monday I received the PORTS 1961 Pre-Fall 2011 Look Book and eagerly started going through the new looks. I first discovered Tia Cibani’s designs two seasons ago when I attended my first PORTS 1961 show at New York Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. As I flipped though the look book I fell in love with the blue and orange hues. So much so, that I was inspired to create an invitation that will be included in our new silk foundation invite collection in 2011. The design was inspired by PORTS 1961 looks #1, #27 and #28. The bottom layer is a 5×7 pumpkin dupioni silk foundation and the invite is adorned with four topaz Swarovski rhinestones.

House of Papier Invitations in Action

12.08.10

House of Papier’s Über-Fabulous couple, David and Mari recently tied the knot at the Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niquel in Dana Point, CA. Here are some pictures of the purple silk folio invitations and table numbers we created for them – and of course, pictures of the beautiful bride and groom!

Best Wishes to Mari & David,

Über-Fabulous Couple :: Mari and Dave

09.21.10

Our next Über-Fabulous couple are Dave and Mari. The two met online at Match.com and had their first date two years ago. They quickly fell in love and were engaged in July 2009. The couple’s wedding colors are purple with a hint of silver and ivory. Mari had a general idea of what she was looking for and I worked closely with her to design her dream wedding invitations. The 3-layer invites come in a 5×7 ”Vegas” purple silk folio and include a matching response card and wedding information insert:

The couple will be wed in October at the Ritz-Carlton in Dana Point California and honeymooning at the St. Regis in Bora Bora in an overwater bungalow.

Working with on this project was so much fun! Here’s what Mari had to say about working with House of Papier:

After meeting and speaking with many invitation consultants, I ultimately selected the House of Papier because of their creativity, integrity, and gorgeous high-quality invitations.  I was impressed by the breadth of the invitation styles and designs in the House of Papier’s portfolio.  I knew that Missy and her team must truly be talented to be able to create so many unique, classy, and gorgeous invitations.

The House of Papier was extremely easy to work with.  I didn’t have a very clear vision for what I wanted with my invitations, but Missy was able to develop a beautiful design for our invitations with the little guidance I provided based on my likes and dislikes. Additionally, Missy was very responsive and was in continuous communication with me throughout the process.  She was also very patient with me even when I changed my mind multiple times.  Although planning a wedding is a very stressful time, Missy’s patience, integrity, and reliability made the invitation process stress-free!

My invitations turned out better than I ever could have imagined.  My guests loved the invitations and I continue to hear feedback that these invitations are one of the most gorgeous and unique invitations that they have ever received.  I highly recommend The House of Papier and will definitely use them again in the future.  Thank you, Missy!

I wish Dave and Mari all the best.

An Über-Fabulous Wedding in Southern California

08.15.10

Mr. and Mrs. Schakim Ammarah are the newest couple to make the House of Papier Über-Fabulous list. Not only did House of Papier create the couples custom invitations and wedding stationery but Tyra, the bride, just happens to be one of my best friends. So what makes this couple Über-Fabulous? The location of their wedding, the decor, the dress and their lovely personalities. The couple are from Los Angeles and got married at SkyLinks at Long Beach, a posh golf course in Long Beach, California. The venue boasted luscious greens and rock waterfalls, one of which was the backdrop to the ceremony.

The bride wore a beautiful classic sweetheart dress with ruching at the waist and a flowing train. The bride and groom brought their humorous personalities to the celebration by dancing their way into the reception during their introduction to guests as Mr. and Mrs. Ammarah.

So one of my favorite elements of the wedding was the “Just Married” golf cart. The bride and groom drove off in the decorated cart after the wedding ceremony to take their pictures on the golf course. What a chic idea! The bride’s cutie pie niece was the flower girl and I must say she did her job very well.

The wedding colors were ocean blue and orange. Who knew those colors went together so well! The blue was radiant and the orange provided a pop of color. The cake wasn’t just beautiful, it was yummy too. The floral arrangements with blue and orange roses were just gorgeous. From the brides bouquet to the flowers that adorned the ceremony archway, to the floral embellishments on the cake to the reception centerpieces – the eye catching flowers were definetly the highlight of the wedding decor.

House of Papier created the couples custom invitations, menus, escort cards, table cards and dance cards. What is a dance card you ask? Well it’s a game that the bride came up with for the reception. Each table had a card with the title of a song and every time the DJ played that song, everyone at the table had to hit the dance floor and dance. All in all, the wedding was Über-Fabulous and the sunny southern California weather was just an added bonus for an outdoor wedding (after all, it never rains in southern California right?).

Congratulations Tyra & Schakim!

The invitation presses are in full swing

08.10.10

I’m so ready for Summer to be over! Fall is my favorite time of the year and I’m so over the heat and humidity, especially after just coming back from Los Angeles where the weather is God-sent. This Summer has been kind of crazy and I’ve been traveling in and out of town since June. So I’m looking forward to the change of seasons and the next page in the history of House of Papier. We have a lot of projects we’re working on and more coming down the pike. I’m really excited about sharing some of the new things we have going on and the new invitation designs we’re creating. The invitation presses are in full swing and here are just a few projects:
