The 2-layer invite is embellished with three Swarovski rhinestones.

Not something borrowed, not something blue, but definitely something NEW. That’s right, I’m taking somewhat of a break from bridal invites and working on some new projects. While House of Papier caters to a large number of brides, we are a full service invitation design house creating custom invitations for all kinds of events. With that being said, we have  a number of new clients coming down the pike that in no way shape or form fit the bridal mold. I love working on invitations that are not monotonous, cause me to stretch my imagination and sparks my creativity. I’m currently working on two such projects. As promised, here is the Thank You silk folio I created for a recent client. Thanking your guests for attending your wedding and for the gifts they gave is an essential to-do for all couples. Thank You’s should be sent out about two weeks after you return from your honeymoon. Columbian born Silvia Tcherassi is considered the most prominent Latin American fashion designer. Whether it’s designer clothing, wedding gowns, or hotels her talent transcends from fashion to the hospitality industry. As a fashion designer, her Pret’ a’ Porter (“off the rack”) or Ready to Wear line is simply exquisite. The casual wear has vibrant colors and swaddling textures, while the evening wear is laced with elegant ruffles. Tcherassi’s bridal collection is coveted by the most sophisticated brides and exudes haute couture. Here are some of my favorite gowns from the collection:

In adition to her Pret’ a’ Porter’ and Bridal collection she adds the Tcherassi Hotel Collection. This extension of the Tcherassi brand is a fashion hotel dedicated to style, luxury and sophisticated service. The lux hotel and spa opened earlier this year in Cartagena’s Old City on the Caribbean coast of Columbia with plans to expand to other cities. Tcherassi has made an international mark over the past fifteen years with all her fabulous collections so look out for more of her extravagant work for years to come.

When in Rome…do as the Romans – or in this case, send House of Papier wedding announcements. I’d like to share the finshed product from our lastest Über-Fabulous couple Terry & Dara Overstreet who recently wed in Rome, Italy:

This past Saturday I spent most of the day in Manhattan picking up supplies for a current project I’m working on. I was in search of ribbon embellishments. Colors are so important when designing invitations, and I found out every earlier on in this business that one person’s shade of blue is not another person’s shade of blue. It would be lovely if there was one universal color chart to work with. While I start off with the pantone color palette, that usually gets thrown out the window when a client requests tangerine orange or raspberry pink. On this particular Saturday I was on the hunt for a specific shade of pink and brown. With swatch in tow I was on a mission to find it – and I did!

I’m currently working on a new project for a wedding client and thought I’d share the new twist on a design favorite. The Swarovski Crystal invitation is one of House of Papier’s most popular invites, as well as our signature piece. The original was created in ivory and royal blue, but these fuchsia elements add flare to an old favorite.
